Mae and Milton were dear friends of our family. Milton went to college with my father, and Mae befriended my mother when she arrived in the Bronx as a new immigrant. The two of them became fast friends, and wheeled their babies around the Bronx, chatting all the time. They were in the hospital at the same time for their second births, and so it went. Children, life, family gatherings, and plenty of chatting.
I remember Milton holding my son David when we were visiting my in-laws on Long Island. David was a baby refusing the bottle (he had been breastfed), and Milton walked him around the house exclaiming that David “really was not taking milk from the bottle”. The bonds held. Mae continued to send cards, and to phone and send her love, to my mother, and then to me.
After a long life together, they died one day apart, last week September 3 and 4, 2014.
They were both such wonderful people. I see now how they made everyone a part of their family. I will miss them both
My sympathy to you Charlie and to your sister. What a nice story about them and great pics.
